Light first, everything else after

Château Noir started from a simple frustration: most lighting is sold as hardware. Wattage, fittings, a box on a shelf. Almost none of it is sold on the thing that actually matters, which is what a room feels like once the light is on.

So that is where we start. Every piece we carry is chosen for how warm the light falls, where it pools, and how a space reads in the evening once the overhead is switched off. If a lamp does not change the feeling of a room, it does not make the range.

Materials that settle in

Solid metals, real glass, cut crystal, walnut, handmade washi paper. We favour materials that age into a room rather than wearing out in it. A finish that looks slightly better after two years is worth more than one that looks perfect for two months.

Made to be used

Good lighting has to be easy to live with. Controls that fall to hand. Cordless pieces that move from a bedside to a dinner table without hunting for a socket. Fittings that stay where you put them. Practical first, and quietly good looking with it.

Our cordless table lamps light hotel rooms, bar tops and restaurant floors, where a light gets handled every single night by people who did not buy it. Anything that survives that is more than ready for a living room.

How we work

We ship worldwide, and shipping is free. Every piece carries a 30 day warranty, and you have 30 days to change your mind. If something is wrong, we would rather hear about it and fix it than have you live with it.
