Château Noir respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit or buy from our store, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
When you place an order we collect the information needed to fulfil it: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and order details. Payment card numbers are entered directly with our payment processor and are never stored on our systems.
When you browse the store we automatically receive standard technical information from your browser: IP address, device and browser type, referring pages, and the pages you view. If you subscribe to emails or contact support, we keep the messages and the address you used.
How we use it
- To process, ship and track your order, and to handle returns or warranty claims.
- To send order confirmations, shipping notifications and service messages.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To improve our products, our store and our marketing, in aggregate.
- To send marketing emails, only where you have opted in. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers who make the store work: our ecommerce platform (Shopify), our payment processors, our shipping carriers and fulfilment partners, and our email and analytics providers. Each receives only what it needs to perform its role.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where required by law, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
Cookies
Our store uses cookies to keep your cart, remember your preferences, and understand how the store is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the store may stop working correctly if you do.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as required for accounting, tax and warranty purposes. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. Support messages are kept while they remain useful for helping you.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Write to chateau.noir.home@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Our store is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16.
Security
Payments are processed over an encrypted connection by PCI compliant processors. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information in our care.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes will be posted on this page.
