The Stem Illuminator sculpts light rather than simply emitting it. A slender conical stem rises from a small footprint and ends in a downward-sloping head, so the beam is directed onto the surface below and never out into the room at eye level. Engineered specifically to eliminate glare, it lights a page, a keyboard or a dining table with an even, comfortable wash of light.
A touch at the crown of the lamp moves the LED through three distinct intensities, from a high-flow working brightness down to a low glow for the end of an evening. There is nothing to learn and no switch to find in the dark. The precision of the beam is what makes it a genuinely good desk lamp rather than a decorative object that happens to light up.
The body is machined from a single block of weighty aluminium, with a matte lacquered finish in organic tones that reads as understated rather than industrial. Can the bulb be replaced?
